In a letter to the Board of Elections and the Office of ANC , Tom Donohue ANC8A01 resident and small business owner informs both agencies, “of a potential vacancy for Commissioner in the ANC08A single member district” he continues, “It has been brought to my attention and confirmed with the property owner of record at 1936 Naylor Road, SE #102, Mr. Wills that ANC08A, Commissioner, Holly Muhammad no longer resides at her listed address of 1936 Naylor Road, SE #102 as of March 2022.”
Holly Muhammad no longer resides at her listed address of 1936 Naylor Road, SE #102 as of March 2022.
Tom Donohue
Tom adds that VoteUSA lists Ms. Muhammad’s address as 1926 17th Street, SE and DC would seem to indicate that Ms. Muhammad no longer resides in the single member district she represents and therefore creates a vacancy.
Her DC Voter Registration as of last week still lists Ms. Muhammad residency still on Naylor Road.
In his letter he requests that this matter be clarified as my recall efforts in collecting signatures may no longer be necessary.
Tom wishes to stress he has no interest in running for or ever being ANC8A01 Commissionor he just wishes to be represented by someone worthy, professional and dignified to hold a postion in which the elected official will represent all and not lower themselves by attacking the public. He reminds folks of his petition currently in circulation for signatures:
Commisoners are elected every 2 years. The question is at the time of her last election did she reside in the area #2 Why is a recall necesary for office that will have an election in less than 10 months if she did have a legal residence in the said area.? Was the citizen bared from meetings without cause? How was the Commisoner threatened? Was it with bodily harm or is this just about difference of opionion on issue and failure for him to participate in meeting.Did Tom make any statements about her being a women, black or her religous affiliation. Ms Muhammed did make statements about an affiliation with a known antisemtic group but Tom denies that. Is there any indication that he is even a member of any such organization or that he has espoused such theories.
Its not to be put frankly. A special Meeting will be called by the commission to determine her eligibility or whether she remains in her SMD.
An election will take place in Nov for her seat. The only benefit would be to continue the effort of having her recalled frankly is to educate and to help identify a candidate who could run against her. Otherwise her running unopposed as usual will likely resort in her being elected.
Thanks Yvonne for asking.
